You can contact Meldpunt Huurders Nijmegen with complaints about misbehaviours from your landlord. On the first of July, 2023 there is introduced a new law that introduces more norms for landlords. The following behaviours can be reported:

  • Discrimination
  • Harassment
  • Asking more service costs than is allowed
  • Not providing insight into the service costs
  • Request a doposit of more than two months' rent
  • Not returning the deposit within two weeks after the rental contract has ended
  • Nog providing a written rental agreement 
  • Not informing tenants about their rights and obligations

These new norms are valid from the first of July, 2023 for all landlords in the Netherlands. Exeption on this is that the obligation to provide information will only aply from the first of January, 2024. It is possible to report misbehaviours from your landlord anonymous. You can do this by filling the registration form without providing your personal data. The boxes where you normally enter your personal data will therefore remain empty. To be able to take action with your report, we will always need the address of the accomodation to which the complaint relates. When making an anonymous report, please bear in mind that we may not be able to handle te complaint due to a lack of data. Personal data will only be processed in the files of Meldpunt Huurders Nijmegen. These are necessary for proper handling of the complaint. Personal data is never passed on to the landlord.
